Joy Lutheran's Pastor is The Reverand John David Bryant

Pastor John David Bryant is a native of Coffee County, Georgia. He earned his B.S. degree from Valdosta State University, double majoring in Spanish and Education, minoring in psychology. He was ordained via the ELCA theological education through emerging ministries program (TEEM) in 10/2011 and completed his MDIV through a joint effort of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and Lenoir Rhyne University 5/2016. A self-described lifelong learner, he has been accepted into the Spiritual Direction certificate program of the Aquinas Institute and may pursue this course of study on a part-time basis in the future. Pr. Bryant has served on many community service boards including the Suwanee Valley Long-term Recovery Boards, Fun in the Son Teens Encounter Christ, and most recently, Western North Carolina Via de Cristo.​​​​

Pastor Bryant's field work was done in 2008 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Columbia, SC and 2009 at Lutheran Church of the Transfiguration, Cayce SC.   His vicarage/internship in 2010 was served under the Rev. Dr. Robert Lutz, (DMIN from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philly in Pastoral Care, PHD from Loyola University in Baltimore in Counseling) was completed at Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church in Lake, City, FL.

​​When time allows, Pastor Bryant enjoys early morning and late evening beach walks, collecting U.S. coins, cooking, listening to a broad variety of music, maintaining a blog, and caring for the family dachshunds.​​
